"The title of Never Look Away is deliciously ironic: This is one of the most mesmerizing, compulsively watchable films in theaters right now. "
- Ann Hornaday, Washington Post
"Never Look Away makes an eloquent case for art as an expression of hope, a way of searching for meaning in chaos. "
- Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal
"Never Look Away is an often moving, thoughtful drama about the correlations between personal experience, politics and art. "
- Demetrios Matheou, Screen International
"Donnersmarck has crafted an unparalleled masterpiece, a three-plus hour epic that leaves you wanting more."
- Katie Walsh, Tribune News Service
"In a larger sense, the film is about the postwar generation of Germans desperate for a new direction, and when Henckel von Donnersmarck focuses on the artmaking, it's powerful -- a persuasive statement about the transformative power of representation."
- Joshua Rothkopf, Time Out
"The German Oscar nominee for best foreign-language film is a triumphant return form to filmmaker Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, a treatise on love and war and the limitless reach of art that, even when it trips up, is never less than exhilarating."
